Occupational therapy is:

  • A service to help children/youth function at their best in the roles (e.g. occupations) that they perform during the day.
  • A service provided by registered Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants
  • A service to promote self-care activities, productive roles and play and leisure activities
  • A service that can assist if you have concerns for your child in some of the following areas:
    • Low muscle tone
    • Weakness in upper body/arms/hands
    • Fine motor delays including; colouring, drawing, cutting, printing
    • Poor eye-hand coordination
    • Poor play skills
    • Difficulty focusing and paying attention
    • Poor dressing/undressing skills
    • Feeding difficulties
    • Sensory differences
    • Poor organizational skills
    • Clumsy/awkward

 

Occupational therapy Services include:

  • Assessment, Treatment and Consultation to children, youth and their families
  • Direct individual and group therapy sessions
  • Interdisciplinary team work
  • Consultation and training workshops for parents, caregivers, day care staff, teachers.
  • Home programs so parents and caregivers can support goals in everyday environment

  • Website: Download the Referral Form and mail or fax to One Kids Place
  • Third party referrals with parent/guardian permission are accepted

 

Occupational therapy program eligibility

  • Children/youth aged 0-19 who reside within the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound requiring preschool and/or specialized services
  • One Kids Place is the provider of School Therapy Services through the North East Community Care Access Centre (NECCAC) for the Districts of Nipissing and Parry Sound (see School Therapy Services)
