The Social Worker, who is regulated by the College of Social Workers, provides children, youth and families with counselling, support and consultation to maintain continuity of care to maximize health and well being. The Social Worker will provide consultation to the interdisciplinary team and liaise with community, district, regional and provincial services. The Social Worker’s role as a member of the therapy team may include:
- conducting psycho-social assessments/ needs assessment when social concerns are identified during the child and family’s involvement with our program and complete any psychosocial referrals as needed;
- consultations with therapists when psychosocial issues and concerns are raised;
- liaising with community agencies and services to facilitate client/ family care;
- providing support to families regarding a child’s diagnosis, assisting with identifying services needed, teaching parenting strategies, and behavioural interventions; and/or
- facilitating groups for parents and children.
